HEALING THROUGH WORDS & MUSIC: SONIA LEE

The Bridge to Recovery is proud to sponsor the entertainment for Moment of Change 2010

Sonia LeeWednesday evening, come meet Rob Waggener, CEO of Foundations Recovery Network, and some of the FRN staff while sharing an intimate setting with singer/songwriter Sonia Lee who will sing her beautiful recovery songs. Sonia will share some of her story and have free music therapy discussion guides to go along with the songs. Her CDs will be available for purchase.

Sonia Lee has performed her folk/country music around the world, from New York to Nashville (where she now resides) to Ukraine. A two-time New Folk Finalist at the Kerrville Folk Festival, Sonia has been honored with many awards throughout her musical career. Most recently, she has been nominated for her song Wildflowers in the Grass at the Posi Awards positive music conference.

The songs on Sonia’s third and latest CD, Chance to Start Over, chronicle her journey in recovery. Sonia sings for audiences of all types, but she admits that she loves nothing more than sharing her story-in-song to those in recovery. She understands the healing power of music and her heartfelt songs reflect messages of hope, struggle, and inspiration. Sober for fourteen years, she speaks honestly about how times were tough in the beginning. Like her fellow travelers, Sonia is not afraid to laugh at herself and the stumbling blocks along the path of recovery. She is one of us, and she shares her healing message through words and music.

Sonia performs at conferences, treatment facilities, house concerts, churches, and retreats. For more information visit www.sonialee.net. For booking call 615-481-9884 615-481-9884 .

This event is sponsored by The Bridge to Recovery. The Bridge is a residential facility located in southcentral Kentucky with short and long-term programs that jump start people’s recovery from negative behavior patterns that sabotage their lives and relationships.

The Bridge to Recovery is a program of self-development for people struggling with any negative habit: chemical dependence, codependence, or non-chemical dependencies.

The Bridge to Recovery was established in 1975 as a nonprofit organization with the sole purpose of helping individuals and families identify problems hindering their social, emotional, and vocational development. In 1977, the Foundation purchased a picturesque ninety acre site in Warren County, Kentucky, as a permanent home for The Bridge.

The founders’ vision was to create a program of recovery from unhealthy dependencies geared to the needs of young people reared in conservative religious families who had become alienated from family, church, and God for various reasons, including substance abuse. As time went on and the success of the program became well known, the target group became broader.

In the last 30 years, The Bridge model has evolved into an effective growth process for people who grew up in alcoholic, workaholic, and other kinds of “driven” systems and are currently trapped in negative behavior patterns of their own. Our program creates the nurturing and guidance necessary for such individuals to achieve reasonably high levels of self-esteem and social effectiveness. It also serves as an excellent relapse prevention program for chemically dependent people. Sustainable recovery is the over-all goal.
