April 26, 2011 | FRN Honored With James W. West Quality Improvement Award

Foundations Recovery Network recognized for its Patient Centered Care Initiative and commitment to providing the best customer experience during treatment

James W. West Quality Improvement AwardApril 26, 2011 (Nashville, TN) – Foundations Recovery Network (FRN) will be honored in May 2011 with a James W. West Quality Improvement Award, which recognizes programs whose efforts demonstrate comprehensive approaches to effective, continuous quality improvement.

The National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers looks at all NAATP-member addiction treatment organizations to assess their work in improving the quality and effectiveness of their services and documenting their results along the way. Established in 2001, the award is named in honor of James W. West, a longtime quality-improvement advocate and medical director emeritus at the Betty Ford Center.

One of only two programs honored this year, FRN is being recognized specifically for its Patient Centered Care Initiative. Several years in the making, this revised approach is the result of intensive research on FRN's entire treatment process and a desire to improve not just the overall patient experience, but specifically the motivation level of customers at the beginning of treatment.

"We moved from thinking about what patients want to actually finding out," explained FRN CEO Rob Waggener on the basis for the program updates. This resulted in increased patient satisfaction as well as a longer average stay and a reduction in staff turnover.

FRN will be presented with its award at the annual NAATP conference, to be held May 14-17 in Phoenix, Arizona. As a West Award winner, FRN will also be featured in the April issue of Professional Counselor magazine.
