Recovering Sleep: Understanding and Managing Sleep Disorders in Recovery

Patients in recovery can eperience a number of sleeping disorders because of withdrawal, drug use and other problems. In this webinar, learn sleep architecture and cycles, as well as signs and symptoms of sleeping disorders in patients, and when a referral to a sleep medicine specialist is necessary. The effects of various drugs of abuse on the sleep cycle, as well as withdrawal syndromes and their effects on the sleep cycle, will be examined. Common clinical scenarios of sleep problems will be presented along with pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatment options for each scenario. Sleep hygiene techniques will be reviewed and interventions to support good sleep hygiene in a residential treatment setting will be specifically discussed. Attendees will learn about online resources that patients can access to support good sleep hygiene.
