Comprehensive Co-occurring Outpatient Treatment

Since its launch in 2014, Foundations Atlanta at Midtown has been offering a comprehensive integrated treatment in an outpatient setting. A staggeringly high percentage of those dealing with addiction issues are also struggling with a co-occurring mental health issues like depression, trauma or bipolar disorder. Research and practice have shown that people have the best chance of long-term recovery if both issues are treated concurrently.

To provide flexibility for those in need of treatment, Foundations Atlanta at Midtown offers two Intensive Outpatient Programs—daytime and evening—to best accommodate patients’ schedules. The staff partners with patients to provide a holistic program that addresses a variety of needs and issues, using a treatment philosophy based on Motivational Interviewing and a stages-of-change approach. We provide individual and group therapy, as well as educational sessions addressing everything from life skills to stress management, relapse prevention, and peer support.” Our center boasts a diverse patient population and is LGBT-friendly.

Everyone’s road to treatment is different. Some arrive at our outpatient center after residential treatment as a way to continue refining recovery skills while integrating back into everyday life. Others are hoping to address issues before a residential program is needed. Still others return when new circumstances or old triggers threaten ongoing sobriety. At Foundations Atlanta, our goal is to meet patients where they are. We have programming for patients at every stage of recovery.

A Holistic Approach

We believe in a treatment model that addresses the needs of whole person. That’s why, in additional to our more traditional therapy methods, we also provide activities that help patients reconnect with their bodies and encourage healing, both physically and emotionally.

Holistic offerings include the following:

  • Yoga
  • Meditation
  • Massage Therapy
  • Nutrition Education
  • Art Therapy
  • Acupuncture

Program Schedules – Morning and evening options are available and include individual and group education as well as a variety of supporting services.

Clinical Program – Clinical offerings include comprehensive addiction assessments, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), family programming, physician-directed medication management, psychoeducational groups, individual and group therapy as well as continuing care planning.

Relapse Prevention – These groups focus on solidifying the skills and tools developed in our outpatient program, and we also work proactively with patients to strengthen their individual relapse prevention plans.

Alumni Services – Upon completion of our program, patients can participate in regular alumni gatherings and special events and join the national Heroes in Recovery movement for additional support.

Holistic Services – Holistic offerings like yoga, meditation, acupuncture, art therapy, nutrition education and massage therapy are built into each person’s treatment program. This structured approach to treating the whole person allows for greater communication between all treatment providers to ensure each patient is getting exactly what he or she needs.
