Robert Kirchoff, MD

KirchoffServing as medical director of Foundations Detroit since its opening, Dr. Robert Kirchoff is an experienced internal medicine and addiction medicine specialist, with an extensive background in the diagnosis, treatment and management of co-occurring disorders. Dr. Kirchoff’s multifaceted approach focuses on health optimization, with acute care of co-morbid medical conditions, alongside the treatment of the underlying addiction related pathologies and co-occurring psychiatric disorders. This multisystems-based approach allows for a customized plan of care to meet the unique needs of each individual patient.

Dr. Kirchoff completed his residency training at the Mayo Clinic and Wayne State University, and is an active member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. He is a staff physician with privileges at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland and McLaren Oakland.

Theadia Carey, MD


CareyAs Foundations Detroit’s resident board-certified psychiatrist, Dr. Theadia Carey brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to treating both substance use and psychiatric disorders. Over the course of her career, Dr. Carey has worked with substance-involved patients in a variety of settings, including community mental health, correctional services and VA healthcare facilities. Equipped with American Society of Addiction Medicine training, she can be trusted to meet the complex treatment needs that can accompany co-occurring disorders.

Mike Ferriter, LMSW, CAADC

Primary Therapist

MikeMike Ferriter, a primary therapist at Foundations Detroit, is a licensed master’s social worker and a certified addiction counselor. Serving in the mental health field since 1986, Ferriter began specializing in addiction and mental health issues in 2004. His practice, in addiction to recovery, focuses on an individual’s strengths and values, helping patients learn mindfulness as they begin and sustain a journey of lifelong recovery.

Samantha Eldred, MA, LLP, CAADC

Primary Therapist

Born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan, Samantha Eldred is a passionate primary therapist serving her community at Foundations Detroit. She began the role in 2018. Previously, she was a hospital liaison and later a clinical therapist with Wayne County Community Mental Health for three years. During that time, she also partnered with Wayne County’s drug court as a therapist, counseling clients sentenced to drug court instead of typical probation.

Eldred began her counseling career working with adults who sustained traumatic brain injuries, where she witnessed firsthand the effects of alcoholism on individuals and their families. While working, she enrolled in the University of Detroit Mercy’s clinical psychology program, where she earned her master’s degree. Previously, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in health science from Grand Valley State University.

Every day, Eldred is excited to come to Foundations Detroit and touch people’s lives. “My entire life I always wanted to make a difference in the world, and while I am here I feel like I am doing that,” she said. Her favorite thing about her job is seeing the changes in people’s lives over time and being part of that.

Eldred is a wife and mother. In her spare time, she loves finding new recipes to try on her friends and family.

Justine Belvitch

Business Office Manager

BelvitchWith over 20 years of experience with mental health and substance abuse, Justine Belvitch brings knowledge and understanding to her role as Foundations Detroit’s business office manager. Also serving as the active risk manager and compliance officer, Belvitch is passionate about making patients feel welcome and stress-free, creating a pleasant environment for each to receive credible information about their benefits. After earning her associate’s degree in accounting, she is currently pursuing her CPA license at the University of Michigan in Dearborn. Over the course of her career, Belvitch has gained experience in a variety of settings, including government funding and commercial insurance companies.

Sarah Bono

Business Development Representative

BonoSarah Bono joined the Foundations Detroit team as a business development representative in May 2016. She earned a bachelor’s of applied science degree in criminal justice from Wayne State University. Previously, she worked at a criminal defense law firm as a client advocate and substance abuse treatment coordinator. When she’s not working, she enjoys trying new restaurants, cooking, traveling and spending time with her two daughters.
