Canadian Outreach

Canadian OutreachThe problem of substance abuse doesn’t know any national boundaries, but addiction does vary from country to country. In Canada, meth, ecstasy and marijuana/marihuana are popular – often as exports -- with cocaine and liquid cocaine remaining a problem in many provinces. The stimulant Khat is popular, too, but that popularity is concentrated within Central Canada, particularly within larger urban centers where large Eastern-African communities are found. Heroin imported from Southwest Asia is also readily available in Canada.

In Canada, men are 2.6 times more likely than women to meet the criteria for substance dependence, while one in 10 Canadians 15 years of age or older report symptoms consistent with alcohol or illicit drug dependence, according to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.

Foundations Recovery Network (FRN) supports treatment for Canadian citizens from all provinces and territories including:
  • Nunavut
  • Quebec
  • Northwest Territories
  • Ontario
  • British Columbia
  • Alberta
  • Saskatchewan
  • Manitoba
  • Yukon
  • Newfoundland
  • Labrador
  • New Brunswick
  • Nova Scotia
  • Prince Edward Island
